EVERYONE’S AN ASSET BUILDER

Search Institute has surveyed about six million young people in the United States and around the world over the past 25 years. Since 1990, their Developmental Assets® has become one of the most widely utilized frameworks for positive youth development in the world.

The framework consists of 40 positive supports and strengths that all youth need in order to be successful. These assets are external and internal relationships, opportunities, and skills that act as protective factors and allow youth to be healthy and well.

Research shows that the more assets a youth has the higher probability that the youth will: thrive now and in the future; be more resilient in the face of challenges; and avoid teen pregnancy, school dropout, substance abuse, delinquency, and/or violence.
